Aqaba is Jordan's only coastal city, a Red Sea port with year-round sun, excellent diving, and Wadi Rum's desert and Petra within easy reach. It's a relaxed, tax-advantaged special economic zone, warmer and cheaper than you'd expect, with a small resort-and-local feel. The flip side is summer heat that's genuinely punishing, a limited nightlife and cultural scene, and a small foreign community. Best for divers and desert-adventure lovers who want sun and proximity to Jordan's wonders.
