Bogotá is Colombia's high-altitude capital, a sprawling, cool-weather city with a serious cultural and culinary scene, a growing tech sector, and prices that go a long way for dollar earners. It's grey and rainy more than people expect, traffic is brutal, and safety requires street smarts, but the food, museums, and music are excellent and the energy is real. It suits people who want an affordable, culturally deep big city and don't need beaches or sun. The altitude takes adjusting to.
