Playa del Carmen is the Riviera Maya's nomad hub: Caribbean beaches, cenotes, a walkable center, and one of Mexico's most established remote-work scenes. It suits beach-loving nomads who want an easy, English-friendly landing with coworking, gyms, and an international crowd already built in. The downsides are real — it's touristy and increasingly pricey, the famed Fifth Avenue is a tourist gauntlet, seaweed (sargassum) plagues the beaches in season, and it can feel rootless.
